Day 1: Arusha to Lake Eyasi – Immersing in Hadzabe Culture
Your journey begins early in the morning as you depart from Arusha and head towards Lake Eyasi, a remote and stunning area that is home to the Hadzabe tribe, one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer communities in Africa. The drive takes approximately five to six hours, passing through scenic landscapes and small villages along the way. Upon arrival, you will meet the Hadzabe people and get an introduction to their unique way of life.
In the afternoon, you will engage in various cultural activities, including learning about their traditional hunting techniques, fire-making skills, and gathering methods. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Datoga blacksmiths, who craft weapons, jewelry, and tools using age-old methods.
